- Adipocytes. These are special cells that are present in all parts of your body to where your fats are stored and released. When these cells are fed with fats, they inflate like how a balloon does. When this happens, you get flabby skin. These cells cannot be removed. Theoretically though, removal of adipocytes can be done by liposuction.

- Liposuction techniques. The process of love handles liposuction is basically just pumping out the fats found in the belly. But science will tell you that this is not as easy as its concept. Special tools and equipment are used and techniques are being developed. These are two liposuction methods that are common today; (1) Tumescent Liposuction technique, and (2) UAL or Ultrasound Assisted Liposuction.

Reading your qigong book in bed is good but it is also necerssary to re-read the book at the time when you are ready to do the exercises.

While going to qigong classes would be great there is no reason why you can not progress perfectly well at home using books to learn qigong. Learning qigong is the same as learning anything else, start at the beginning and allow each lesson to add to your knowledge. It is vital that you learn the basics before you venture onto more difficult lessons.

Don't be tempted to jump from one page to the next and skip a few pages of the qigong book along the way. When you look at the book with a couple of hundred pages it can be tempting to look further into the book

Your qigong book should become part of your life, don't just throw it into a corner after your time reading it and putting the lessons into practice. Put the book somewhere you can find it easily so you can pick it up if you find you have some unexpected quiet time available. Make qigong a part of your live and it will serve you well.

COX-1 and COX-2 are the enzymes responsible for pain and inflammation. This should be welcome news to anyone who suffers from the pain caused by inflammation. Inflammation is the cause of a number of conditions, so even if you're not currently affected by it, supplementing with acai may be good for prevention if acai is indeed a COX inhibitor.

Since acai berry has been so heavily promoted as a weight loss supplement, it would be easy to assume there must be some side effects. To be clear, no studies have yet shown that consuming acai berries will cause side effects in non-allergic individuals. Perhaps the only side effect you may have is that you do not like the taste, but even that is unlikely as it has a very sweet flavor.

Physiotherapy Approach to Benign Joint Hypermobility Syndrome

Collagen is an extremely important connective tissue protein in our bodies, making up significant amounts of our skin, tendons, discs and ligaments. Collagen gives structure to these organs, allowing them to heal normally, to have elasticity, to be strong and to hold together well under the stresses of functional life. It also gives our major blood vessels and other organs the strength they need to remain working correctly. People vary very greatly in the suppleness of their joints and skin and show the whole range from very stiff jointed to very mobile or "double jointed".

Ehlers-Danloss syndrome is caused by an abnormality in the way collagen is produced and acted upon in the body, causing an inheritable deficiency in the strength of the substance. 10 forms of EDS are known to exist, with much overlap, and EDS Three is considered the same as benign joint hypermobility syndrome, called benign because the serious changes such as in the arteries are not present in this form. Very hypermobile joints are the most obvious sign of this syndrome, with a smooth, flexible skin which tends to heal slowly and scar poorly in terms of wide and thin scars.

The typical signs and symptoms of joint hypermobility syndrome are a hyperextensible skin, hypermobile joints, tendency to dislocations, fragile tissues, poor wound healing and a tendency to bruise easily. Chronic joint and limb pain is also common and many sufferers live with constant and multiple pain complaints. Patients show many abnormal muscle balances and have difficulty stabilising their joints appropriately, causing incorrect muscle uses which can lead to pain problems. Functional limitation is common in this group, who cannot participate in contact or vigorous sports without significant joint injuries and pain.

Patient education for sufferers from benign joint hypermobility syndrome is vital if they are to learn to manage the condition through their lives. The joints will not tolerate significant strains and stresses so end range posture should be avoided as this strains the ligaments and can give pain. Repeated lifting of heavy objects is also likely to be unhelpful. Arthritic patients practice joint protection to manage their condition and this is also important for hypermobile patients, so dislocating a shoulder at a party for fun or getting into extreme positions should be avoided. Strong joint stretching may be unwise as in yoga as may activities with a high risk of joint, tissue or skin damage.

Physiotherapists manage the multiple joint and pain problems which hypermobility patients present with. Acute injury is more likely to occur with less trauma and more easily if the person undertakes vigorous exercise of any kind. Shoulder problems are particularly common in hypermobiles as the shoulder is a naturally mobile and unstable joint in normal situations let alone when the ligaments are unusually lax. Keeping the large ball of the arm bone centred on the small socket is a challenge to the muscular control and abnormal muscle patterning is common. Patients may habitually dislocate dislocate on movements, perpetuating the pain problem.

Spinal pain, in the neck, low back or thoracic regions, is a common symptom which hypermobile patients complain of, and physiotherapists interpret this as a lack of stabilising muscle control and muscle balance. Physios do not manipulate these patients but mobilizations, core stability work, strengthening weak muscle groups and general exercise are typical approaches. Increasing the usually low muscle tone by gentle weight training or using resistive bands can help joint control in the mid positions and avoid stresses at end ranges. Hyperextension of the knee is a typical problem, leading to joint pain on weight bearing and later to osteoarthritis. Hamstring work to strengthen the muscle opposing the abnormal movement is useful, with patients typically working on the muscle balance of several body areas.

Hypermobility is a lifelong chronic condition so sufferers are faced with managing this daily in all their postures and activities. Dysfunctional muscle patterns are common when the joints are significantly stressed, forcing them into unsuitable positions where they suffer strains. Physiotherapists can help with retraining of muscle patterns and treatment of painful joints but the largest component is self management and therefore patient education.

Do you know someone that will deny they have a drinking problem but all the signs say that alcohol is at the root of major problems in their? If that person is a male, there is a higher chance that there will be a lag time between when he realizes he needs help and when he will accept the idea that he must actively accept the help. This is not different from other situations when it comes to admitting that there might be a "disease" involved. Although it is common that males have a difficult time asking for medical help, female drinkers can also have difficulty time asking for help. The act of admitting the fact that they may have a disease when it comes to alcohol consumption is hard to accept. Alcohol addiction involves a drug and the drug is alcohol. This is a very addictive drug and addictions can be very difficult to beat.

Individuals that associate with the drinker might feel it far easier to find fault with the drinker for the problems that come up as a result of the drinking instead of being able to have compassion for a person suffering from a disease. But, when the disease is not as obvious, it is harder to have compassion for the sufferer. Those who have a friend or loved one suffering from alcoholism must look beyond the raised glass in order to see and understand the disease.

Heart disease symptoms women experience can be misleading, especially when contrasted to the classic symptoms most men experience.

Doctors have historically attributed these classic signs of heart disease to both men and women: shortness of breath, chest pains, radiating pain that moves from the shoulders to the neck and arms, and increased sweating. Much less noticeable, however, are heart disease symptoms women experience that are much different than male symptoms. Many women never even know that they are having any symptoms that could be related to heart disease. And when and if a woman does have a heart attack, it may seem to come without warning.

Symptoms of heart disease that a woman may experience can include uncommon or unexpected fatigue and weakness. Often tightness and discomfort between the shoulders is mistaken as tension or muscle soreness. In addition, gas, indigestion, dizziness, nausea, and vomiting are often symptoms women may experience prior to a heart attack, yet often mistake as anxiety.

The National Institute of Health performed a study on women and heart disease and found that women often have symptoms for weeks and even months before a heart attack ever takes place. Within the study, 95 percent of the women could tell that they were having unusual and unexpected symptoms such as fatigue, sleep problems, and shortness of breath, but they did not know that these could be symptoms of heart disease. The study also showed that less than a third of all women experience chest pain, which is what doctors attribute as a leading symptom for a heart attack in both men and women.

Women often will disregard heart disease symptoms as a common stress factor, ache, or pain, not realizing that they can be deadly. Medical attention may seem unnecessary, as the symptoms may seem mild and not too bad.

One solution to cut down your risk for heart disease will be to talk to your doctor and get regular check ups. Make sure that your cholesterol levels and blood pressure are within proper ranges, and if you are more at risk for developing heart disease, then ask for further tests from you doctor. Most importantly, let your doctor know if you suddenly begin to have disturbing symptoms that may make no sense. Be safe rather than sorry.

One last point is to take a look at your lifestyle. How healthy are you? Are you eating the best foods available with plenty of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains? Are you limiting your intake of saturated and trans fats? Do you smoke, and if so, can you quit? And, are you at a healthy weight and exercise regularly? Take an honest look at how you live and see what changes you can make now. Heart disease in women must never be taken with a grain of salt. According to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), illness and disease are caused by imbalances or breaks in the flow of life force throughout the body. To restore its harmonious flow and health, this "qi" or life force is manipulated by the inserting fine needles into acupuncture points throughout the body. These acupuncture points are primary to the practice of acupuncture by licensed acupuncturists, and according to Traditional Chinese Medicine, there are dozens of them all over the human body.

In all, there are over 360 acupuncture points which can be used for stimulation. When fine needles are inserted into these points, the flow of energy through those points can be either interrupted or strengthened. By directing this energy, many health problems can be healed or improved. Tender acupuncture points may indicate area of abnormal energy flow.

Because of their fear of needles, many people are afraid to try acupuncture. Luckily, the insertion of these hair-thin needles along acupuncture points is most often painless. And during the few times when discomfort is experienced, the sensation is akin to a mosquito bite and is far less painful than receiving an injection or donating blood.

Western science is still attempting to identify meridians using Western tools. The difficulty for Western scientists in this task lies in the fact that the meridians don't directly correspond to nerve or blood pathways. Acupuncture is still in many ways a mystery to Western medicine. That by no means, however, diminishes its efficacy. Whether acupuncture works by balancing the complementary forces of yin and yang in the body or by manipulating the electrical signals of the nerves, we don't have a definite answer yet. We do know, however that acupuncture works wonders on many modern ailments, and that it is, in many cases, at least as effective as Western modalities in eradicating pain, promoting health, and restoring well-being.
